the genesis of l'aragonese gin

In a forgotten corner of Taranto, a city that has experienced the history of two seas and a rich cultural heritage, comes a gin rooted in local traditions. This gin is not just a drink; it is a journey through time, a tribute to the beauty and complexity of a city that has always had a story to tell.

The story begins centuries ago, when local botanists began experimenting with the herbs and flowers that grew wild in the area.

These ingredients, used in traditional recipes, have been rediscovered and reinterpreted to create a unique gin. The citrus fruits of the Gulf of Taranto, local spices, wild juniper and the prickly pear, a symbol of Puglia, combine to create a distillate that embodies the soul of the city.

Aragonese Dry Gin is the brainchild of 3 local entrepreneurs, owners of two historic establishments in the Tarantino suburb. Marco Friuli and Alessandro Convertino, owners of the cocktail bar/bistro Ginetto, the City's first Gintoneria, and Marco Lippolis, a historic entrepreneur in the restaurant and beach industry and owner of the Totò, historic tavern with over 30 Years in business.

Today, this gin is celebrated not only as a drink, but as a symbol of rebirth for Taranto. Each bottle is an open window on the city, a way to share with the world the beauty and authenticity of a place that has always had something special to offer.

Aragonese has its roots in the past. During the Aragonese reign, the city flourished as a center of cultural and commercial exchange. This Gin brings to light that period of great ferment, evoking images of bustling markets, festivals and celebrations.

Tucked away in a craft workshop, “L'Aragonese” has always existed, but only now emerges to tell the story of a city that has much to offer. Each bottle is a journey that spans the centuries, carrying with it the essence of Taranto and the passion of those who created it..

This gin is meant to be a tribute to the City of Taranto with a hope of rebirth for a better and sustainable future. Each bottle is an open window on the city, a way to share with the world the beauty and authenticity of a place that has always had something special to offer, but has always encountered difficulties.
